I always say the markets look for excuses to do what they were always going to do.
The US and world markets are taking a hammering at the moment, but really that comes as no surprise. It’s just the markets doing what they always do.

Everybody is watching closely now

It would seem to casual observers that the Australian Share market has a genuine aversion to staying above the 5,000 point mark and they’d be correct. Despite hitting 5,000 on Monday the All Ordinaries retraced rapidly on Tuesday only to end up above 5,000 Wednesday 14th April. This is a VERY significant support / resistance level.

Investors take note as RBA raises rates again

Today, in an unprecedented move, the Reserve Bank announced a 3rd consecutive interest rate rise. We’ve seen 3 consecutive interest rate cuts, but not increases. The .25% increase now brings the cash rate to 3.75%.

As “predicted” the market held up and has been rocketing upwards.
In fact the market has had its best run in two decades!
The all ordinaries index rose over 20% in the past 3 months, the best run since the index jumped 27.4% in the September quarter of 1987.

Things just got VERY interesting

Since my last article on April 22nd the market has largely tracked sideways around the 3660 to 3690 mark, just short of the "magic" 3728 resistance I spoke about.
