Most U.S. stocks traded slightly lower last night as a rally in materials stocks was offset by another round of dire economic data that spurred more selling in consumer and financial companies. Setting off the session, the U.S. government left its estimate for economic deterioration last summer unchanged, with the country's gross domestic product falling at a 0.5% annual rate from July through September.
Australian Stocks are set to struggle on Wednesday as more economic gloom worldwide saps the energy of investors who are not already on Christmas Holidays.
Falling minerals and gold prices could hurt heavyweight miners, while thin volumes could exaggerate any price moves.
Trading will end at 2 p.m. AEDST (1pm Brisbane) two hours earlier than usual.
