Generating income made easy

Investing for income whilst maintaining diversification and potential for growth can be very elusive for some investors, so GENERATOR™ offers a solution. It targets cash flow style investments that produce a regular income without cutting off the potential for growth.

Income with growth potential

GENERATOR™ aims to produce a conservative but consistent income from diversified sources that also have potential for growth. GENERATOR™ has been structured as an income investment that doesn't exclude the upside growth opportunities by virtue of investing only for income.

GENERATOR™ utilises a range of strategies designed to deliver income to investors in an array of possible market climates and, because GENERATOR™ employs a number of strategies within its underlying investments, there is less reliance on any one strategy to deliver returns.

Potential for quarterly distributions

GENERATOR™ invests in a portfolio of Managed Funds and ASX Listed Investment Companies that the Investment Manager, Freeman Fox®, believes will provide a consistent level of distribution returns to enable you to receive a quarterly income.

As well as long-only equity funds, GENERATOR™ may invest in absolute return (long-short) funds, buy-write equity funds, cash based income and funds, commercial property funds and higher yielding ASX Listed Investment Companies.

Aims to generate yield in all market conditions

By investing across a combination of income strategies, the Investment Team at Freeman Fox® aims to generate distribution returns in all market cycles.

Income from Options

Investments that use a Buy-Write strategy generate income through writing call options and receiving dividends paid on shares within their portfolio. These funds are designed to produce enhanced distribution returns as well as some growth return in times of rising or side-ways markets; however they are likely to produce negative returns in times of falling markets. They aim to produce higher distribution returns with lower risk than just owning shares.

The MQ Buy-Write Fund, Aurora Buy-Write Income Trust and Zurich Investments Equity Income Fund are examples of Underlying Investments within GENERATOR™ that primarily use the Buy-Write strategy to generate income.

Absolute returns

These traded funds are designed to produce positive returns in times of rising and falling markets. In volatile areas such as Asia, this ability to trade both long and short can assist with minimising risk. The MQ Asia Long Short Fund and the K2 Asian Absolute Return Fund within the GENERATOR™ portfolio are both Long-Short Equity Funds utilising this strategy.

Growing income returns

The BT Imputation Fund seeks to provide both income and growth by targeting investments that are high-yielding or pay high levels of dividends – especially those that have a high level of imputation credits attached to the dividends, as shareholders can achieve increased returns after the tax credits are applied.

Commercial property

GENERATOR™ currently invests in two commercial property funds – the Macquarie Property Income Fund and the Perennial Global Property Trust. Both funds aim to generate income and moderate capital growth through investing in property securities. Through these GENERATOR™ gains exposure to Australian and International property and although both funds have fallen significantly from previous highs we believe this presents a potential buying opportunity.
